Accessing Higher Education for Students with Disabilities

Giving back to our surrounding communities remains a core tenant of Cognitive Consulting’s founding principles. This year, we learned about the Aspire Scholarship at West Milford High School in New Jersey. The award celebrates a senior who has “strive[n] to do their best academically, in extracurricular activities, and in service to their community.”

In an effort to “promote access to higher education,” the Aspire Scholarship works to reduce the “significant barriers and challenges” students may face as they continue down their academic paths. It also specifically aims to help “students with disabilities…pursue their academic and/or career goals after high school.”

We at Cognitive were especially drawn to the fact that the award honors the “importance of commitment to community service, the value of hard work, and persistence,” all things we ourselves strive to embody.  We’re grateful for the opportunity to support this recipient. We know how essential it is to invest in students, their possibilities, and their goals—whatever they may be.
